You can find us in Titirangi, a residential suburb of Auckland, thirteen kilometres from the CBD. The area was first inhabited by the Māori, and Titirangi is a word from the Māori language, often translated as ‘fringe of heaven’, but more literally meaning ‘long streaks of cloud in the sky’. European settlement began in 1832, and Auckland was briefly declared New Zealand’s capital in 1841, but was replaced by Wellington in 1865.

Titirangi itself is considered an affluent area, built at the base of the Waitakere Ranges and famous for attractive houses built amongst large stretches of native bush and parkland. The Scenic Drive access to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park begins in the suburb, and Titirangi is also close to the Lower Nihotupu Reservoir, one of five in the area that supply the city’s water. Bordered by the sea, the suburb also boasts Titirangi Beach on Paturoa Bay, part of the Manukau Harbour, with a playground and sports field.

Titirangi is home to the Langholm Riding Club, located near the Sylvan Reserve, and a community gallery overseen by the Titirangi Community Arts Council – the Upstairs Art Gallery. Despite the name, Titirangi Golf Course is actually located between the suburbs of Green Bay and New Lynn.
